I discovered the Swish Sports app through a friend last year and I haven’t looked back ever since. It’s a free app that is available for download on Apple or Google Play. It’s a lot like Playtime Scheduler, which is widely used here in Wichita, in that you can create play sessions and have players join/add their names but, additionally, the app can help you organize and facilitate play whether it be a single round robin event, a tournament, or even a league. Here’s a short video that explains what the app does.

The Swish app supports multiple sports (basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, football, frisbee, volleyball, spike, etc.) but I have used it primarily for pickleball because that is the sport that I play.

You can create three types of events:

• Standard Game – this is basically your normal one-off session

• League – you can use the app to schedule games and run scoring (basically everything one would need to run a pickleball league)

• Tournament – you can also use the app to run a full-scale tournament with multiple divisions

Available game formats:

• Regular Play – standard match play with no score keeping option (this option is only available for Standard Game type)

• Round Robin – you could choose set partners (4 to 16 teams play a round robin) or rotating partners (minimum of 4 and maximum of 20 individual players)

• Team Pickleball – complete against other teams of 4 players

Besides tracking your registrations/sign ups within the app, the players can also chat amongst themselves via the game feed, and the app can track the results of the league or tournament so it’s super easy to identify the winners. Additionally, the app can integrate with DUPR so match results can be automatically sent to DUPR following the event if you set it up this way.
