The AARP Pickleball Clinic Tour is coming to Wichita and we are excited to offer you a chance to learn and play this popular sport! The clinics will consist of an on-court guided session with licensed instructors and focus on warm up, basic technique, skills building, and game play for players of all levels. Pickleball is a fun way to connect with friends, stay fit* and support your brain to help your health and happiness live as long as you do.

Registration is FREE and limited to the first seventy five (75) people who sign-up through the links provided. Participants must sign a General Liability Waiver.

Participants will also get a chance to learn about the six pillars for better brain health and exciting opportunities to get involved with AARP in Kansas. We hope to see you on the court!

EVENT AND SESSION TIMES

The AARP Pickleball Clinics take place from 5 – 8pm CT on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. See below for the full schedule and session descriptions.

Intro to Pickleball (5 – 7pm)

• Dive into the world of pickleball with our fun Intro to Pickleball Clinic! Designed for players new to the sport, these clinics offer an interactive way to learn the sport of pickleball. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics, from understanding the rules to practicing your paddle skills. Get ready for laughter, camaraderie, and a great introduction to the exciting game of pickleball.

Skills & Drills and Open Play (7 – 8pm)

• Step up your pickleball game with our Skills & Drills Clinic! Designed for players looking to progress from novice to advanced levels, these clinics offer a mix of foundational skills and strategic insights. Our experienced instructors will guide you through advanced techniques, drills, and match scenarios, all in a fun and supportive environment.
• Open play is a drop-in format that allows players of all levels to practice their skills in a game format. During open play, our experienced instructors will keep things moving, directing players on and off the court by skill level. It’s an opportunity for both beginners and seasoned players to enjoy the game, make new friends, and stay active.

Come mingle and enjoy friendly play with others who are getting into the swing of pickleball. The session starts with 45 minutes of instruction followed by facilitated play. $20 per person to attend. Registration includes a $10 gift card.

Champions Division
Participants who secure skill-level gold at a state championship are eligible for a complimentary event fee to the United States Championship in Dallas, TX. This exclusive offer recognizes and rewards excellence in the Champions Division and ensures the best possible competition. This United States Championship will take place from November 4th to the 9th.

Divisions Offered
We are excited to offer a range of divisions to cater to players of varying age groups and skill levels:

Skill Levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0
Age Groups: 18U, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+
Playing Divisions: MD, WD, MXD, MS, WS

Registration Starts
April = Early Registration = $50 + event fees
May & June = Registration = $65 + event fees
July = Late Registration = $80 + event fees
August = Very Late Registration = $90 + event fees

All Doubles Events are $20 each
All Singles Events are $35 each

Skill levels 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 & 5.0. Skill then age, based on the number of registered players. Some skill/age levels may be combined.

Round Robin is being used as the format: 1 to 15 by 2 — Pool play and combination of brackets, at Tournament Directors discretion.

Formats can be changed at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

PLEASE NOTE: This tournament has a 2 MATCH MINIMUM guarantee. Pickleballbrackets.com terminology of “Guaranteed Games Per Event”, should be read as “Guaranteed Matches Per Event”. This notice mainly applies to a Double Elimination Format.
