Pickleball Lessons (2025)

The Wichita pickleball landscape has changed significantly since I first posted about lessons back in 2021. You can still reach out to Kayla Keuter and Chris Heck for private lessons but there are so many money instructors offering lessons now compared to the early days.

If you are very new to the sport and need to learn the basics, Chicken N Pickle offers Beginner Clinics every other Saturday for just $5 per person. Balls and paddles are provided. This clinic covers pickleball fundamentals (basic skills) and scoring.

During the months of June and July, Chicken N Pickle also hosts junior pickleball camps. These are 2-day camps for just $60 per child. The registration fee covers pickleball, games, lunch, and a shirt for each camper.

For more experienced players, the Training Academies at Tap N Paddles are a great option. These are $25 per session (or $100 for a 4-week series) for non-members. Tap members get a 10% discount. They have several talented instructors:

  • Ramon Lozano – 4.0+ Training Academy on Thursday at 5:30 PM
  • Cindy Egan – 3.5 to 4.0 Training Academy on Mondays at 10:30 AM
  • Brady Randall – 3.0 to 3.5 Training Academy on Saturdays at 10:00 AM
  • Dave New – 3.0 to 3.5 Training Academy on Mondays at 5:30 PM
  • Ed Egan – 2.5 to 3.0 Training Academy on Thursdays at 12:00 PM
  • Parrish Gumeringer – 2.5 to 3.0 Training Academy on Tuesday at 5:30 PM

Other facilities that offer pickleball instruction include Flight Club, Riverside Tennis Center, the Pickle Center (at West YMCA), the Sandbox (Derby and Goddard), and Genesis Rock Road; however, I’m not as familiar with their schedules. Private lessons are also available at all of the above locations as well as Chicken N Pickle and Tap N Paddles. Please reach out to the facility directly for more information.

With the abundance of options for pickleball lessons, there’s really no excuse not to get better. What are your thoughts on taking pickleball lessons?
